ALMAN DERESİ HIKING TRAIL
We transformed a community space in Beşiktaş in cooperation with Akkök Holding and with the support of Beşiktaş Municipality.
Cities, communities, nature, our movements, our thoughts, our dreams and us – all of these are elements that make up our world. The well-being of our world is directly linked to the harmony and relationship between these concepts.
Based on these ideas, within the scope of the Alman Deresi Community and Movement Space Project, we proposed an approach that draws attention to urbanites dialogues surrounding around thoughts, dreams, nature, city, environment and themselves. And, we brought together the "a better ialog for a better world" statement at the intersection of environment, movement, inspiration and hope in the public sphere.
We hacked the basketball court and created community and activity spaces that would improve dialogue of urbanites with their surroundings in the Alman Deresi Hiking Trail.
Around the basketball court area, which was empty before our intervention, we designed seating units for the park visitors, and curated new spaces for resting,
performing, working and spending time in the park with other urban furniture units. Designs were interpreted in a way that visitors of the park could enjoy being present in the community and movement space.
As a result of all these efforts, we invite everyone to be a part of the stories we create in the public space, to start dialogues and inspire each other in order to create happier and more sustainable cities and communities!
